Shichirins are highly portable traditional Japanese charcoal stoves that were common staples in many houses. They were often used in fishing boats to cook small fishes. Onigiri (rice balls) baste in butter or sprinkled with soya sauce is also a special treat using shichirin. Shichirins serves as useful back up / emergency stoves when local gas and electric grids are down due to storms or natural disasters. They are wonderful backyard stoves that are neither ostentatious nor require much maintenance or cleaning.
Our authentic shichirins are all Made In Japan 日本製 and can withstand constant heat and use. Currently, we stock 6 different models of shichirins available for sale in Toronto.
WARNING: Please note that shichirins should NOT be used inside the typical Canadian home due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning. We do not recommend using these shichirins unless there is proper ventilation available. Open windows nearby when in use and install Carbon Monoxide detectors. Unlike Canadian homes, traditional Japanese homes are not as thermally sealed or insulated as Canadian homes and there is ample air flow throughout the home. Please use these products responsibly.
